1. tiong bahru bakery.

this famous bakery in singapore is just walking distance (super near!) from my hotel, so we went there for breakfast on monday morning, before heading to universal studio singapore (yay!)

despite being a monday, there’s still quite a lot of customers in the bakery, some enjoying their breakfast, some queuing up to get takeaways, i can only imagine the crowd on a weekend, must be crazy.

we ordered a croissant and quiche and got cappuccino and magic for drinks. the coffee comes with a nice art on top, so pretty~ both of them taste good, cappuccino is very foamy with light coffe taste while magic is darker and has a slight bitter taste which i like.

the croissant is their best selling item, i have no doubt for that… the layering is so thin and super crispy and soooooo fragrant, you can smell the butter just by going near it. while it’s very crispy outside, the inside is so fluffy with air between some layers… just simply the best croissant i ever tasted, and it’s served fresh ‘cos it’s still warm.

the quiche was nice as well, very soft pudding like texture surrounded by crispy tart crust, it’s filling but not too heavy and taste yummy~

both of us really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast, wished we could eat more because there’s so many more different pastries to try and they are all look super tempting, ahaha… the only down side is the price… it’s a little steep for pastries, but it’s really hard to resist delicious food. XD it’s definitely a must-go place when visiting singapore, simply awesome.

  2. o’briens irish sandwich cafe.

had a healthy and yummy lunch thanks to my brother, we ordered different sandwiches to share, and cheesecake!

the smoked salmon on garden cheese ciabatta is a chinese new year special… lots of smoked salmon slices with vegetables, salmon taste really fresh and strong, it’s yummy.

sundried tomato on shambo and chicken tripledecker is something i tried before and love them… the chicken crisp in triple decker is really good and sundried tomato is definitely the most healthy and yummy!

cheesecake is nice as well, very soft, cheesy but nothing too strong, it’s creamy but light, i ate the whole piece by myself and don’t feel very bloated. :D

the hot chocolate is awesome! it’s very chocolatey, there’s no milk or sugary taste in the drink, sweetness level is just perfect… my favorite drink!

  3. oka agriculture, bali.

here, we get to see and taste balinese coffee, luwak coffee, cocoa and other flavored tea like lemongrass and ginseng. from the tree to a cup of coffee, they show us how it is planted and processed. we also saw the fox that made luwak coffee.

anyway, all drinks available are free for tasting, except luwak coffee (we paid to try it). not a fan of both balinese and luwak coffee though, there’s a lack of fragrant compared to other coffee beans. the lemongrass tea is quite nice, my mom like it a lot.

they also sell massage oil products and perfumes and medicines, made from lemongrass mostly. my mom bought the lemongrass tea since it’s nice and it’s also good for health.

more coffee photos at picasa and facebook.

  4. mini summer starbucks card and keychain.

it’s limited edition so it sold out pretty fast, very lucky to get it, thanks to a friend as well. =)

the card is smaller size than the normal one so it’s really cute. the keychain is quite nice as well, but a little big. i liked both the items very much, and it technically doesn’t cost me any money. =D

  5. o’briens irish sandwich cafe.

went there for lunch again, this time ordered iced mocha and the same chicken slice and cheddar cheese shambo. the sandwich is great as usual but iced mocha is just okay.

i love the sandwiches here a lot, i prefer drinks from starbucks though. smoothies used to be good, it has a weird taste now.

  7. ochado, sunway pyramid.

we got interested by the “pop egg” drink they have… coffee burst from bubbles in milk tea sounds awesome! and this pop-egg drink has limited cups per day for each outlet.

we bought a cup. as expected, it was really good. coffee lovers, like us, especially would definitely love this. we wanted to get another cup ‘cos it’s simply not enough, but did not in the end… ‘cos it’s too far to walk back. =p

this is the only premium bubble tea outlet that i found something unique and i love it. =)

  8. costa.

for breakfast. ordered costa light and ham and cheese panini. the coffee is really light so i don’t quite like it. the panini is good, lots of filling and fragrant bread.

went back another few times for breakfast as well to try different things on the menu. enjoying lovely breakfast on a beautiful morning during vacation is the best. =)

  10. first day in the office!

got a bunch of gifts and guides from my dear colleagues, so nice! then got coffee from the nearby cafe with some of my colleagues showing me around the office. cool weather, hot coffee, just perfect! =)

and time to start work! with the laptop i could actually have 2 monitors, that is really nice, hehe… and the desk has lots of cabinet to store stuff which is really good. even have a hangar for my coat. =D

  11. austin chase, the gardens.
well, it’s a new coffee place in town so i gave it a try since there’s a discount. =p
got an iced latte to go, it’s the small size one i guess? the taste is okay… but the coffee is not as strong as starbucks. well, it has its own taste, some people might like it. EdeNz say it’s not good lol…
one thing though, the baristas are not very nice… kinda rude in fact. i love how starbucks barista greet me on every visit, the smiles and friendly conversation, etc, it’s something everyone restaurant and cafe should do. happy people are normally less picky! XD

  12. garden lifestyle store & cafe, mid valley.

newly open at mid valley, just next to the bridge connecting to the gardens mall, there’s quite a lot of people eating there and the restaurant design is kinda nice, “garden in a mall” concept.

last week, i went there with my girl friends to have tea… well, more like coffee since we all picked coffee as our drink. =p the menu is made up of western food mainly, it’s kinda pricey actually.

i ordered iced mocha for my drink. we also ordered 2 cakes for sharing, thought that since it’s a cafe, the cake would be nice, right? there are only 5 cakes on their menu, kinda disappointed… and the most interesting one, tiramisu, is not available. =( we picked mint chocolate and chocolate truffle at the end… yea, the other thing is, the cakes are all chocolate cakes one way or the other.

iced mocha is quite good, the taste is there, very strong, i like it. even though with whipped cream, it’s not too sweet which is good. my friends who ordered cappuccino and hazelnut coffee enjoyed their drinks as well. nice coffee!

the cakes are kinda small given the price… both of them taste okay, but nothing really spectacular, i don’t really like it that much ‘cos it’s too much chocolate, so the cake is kinda sweet. the presentation of the cake is kinda bad, i think, the edges are not squarish, looks like it melted or got cut poorly. the truffle has hazelnut taste which i don’t like, kinda turn off since it looks good.

we didn’t try the other dishes, so i can’t really say if the food is good, but the desserts are really not up to par, given the price they charge, the service was also not as good as expected from a cafe. i doubt i will be visiting again, it just doesn’t attract me. i could always get good coffee elsewhere with better pastry and cakes.
